FIVE tips for including a sing along in your celebrant wedding ceremony!

Reflecting on the bloody BRILLIANT B+P’s ceremony at llyn gwynant got me thinking about how boss it is to include a sing along in your ceremony. It’s a brilliant way to involve all your guests and brings every person there together as a little temporary community.

B+P included not one but TWO songs within the ceremony. The absolute banger (and unofficial national anthem of Wales) Bread of Heaven, and the lesser known but super fun No Hopers Jokers And Rogues, Fisherman's Friends.

P’s family have a long history of singing as a group, even having a home made family song book. So it made perfect sense to include some singing within the ceremony.

So, inspired by B+P here are FIVE tips for how to successfully include a sing along within your celebrant led wedding ceremony:

ONE | Choose a song that a lot of people will know. This way you get the confident singers going for it with gousto!

TWO | Try a few out before you commit. I highly recommend you both having a little karaoke evening and trying a few songs out. Some just don’t lend themselves to a group song ( as I found out when I tried to do Toto Africa at a kareoke night……). Look for something that isn’t too high or low…and not too long!

THREE | If you ignore tip one then get a gang of your mates to practice the song beforehand. That way you’ve got a ready made Wedding Crew ready to blast it out and carry those who don’t know it along. This is what B+P did and it really added another level of energy to the singing!

FOUR | The best sing alongs are those which include a song which really means something to you. Like H&J did by including Whitney I Wanna Dance With Somebody……you’ll have to wait for the blog on their ceremony to find out more!

FIVE |

Consider also including a group toast or shot before the song! This is an excellent way to loosen everyone up and take the tension out the vocal cords. B’s dad brewed up a huge batch of Sloe gin which was given out as a surprise mid ceremony. We held a toast to everyone there and then introduced the song. By then everyone was raring to go!

So….If that’s got you all fired up for ceremony planning why not get in touch and let’s chat about your favourite car karaoke song!
