Do you officiate LGBTQI+ weddings?

Yes! Of course! Love is universal!

I work as I live - I aim to be non-judgemental, aim to be self aware of my privilege and am keen to promote inclusion. As an able bodied person in a straight-looking relationship I am aware of my privilege in moving through this world. I’m learning and open to feedback, so please let me know if I say or do something triggering.

Can we have our ceremony up a mountain in Wales/in my nan’s back garden/on aSUP board in the middle of the Mersey/in a forest/at that funky new venue in town…is this ok for you?

Absolutely! I’m pretty much game for anything! I’m willing and able to trek to the top of a mountain, liaise with cool venues, where ever you like I’m there (as long as it is safe and legal!)

Do you only do weddings?

Nope! I do vow renewals, elopements and I’m open to supporting other ceremonies please just ask! Celebrating friendships? Farewell parties? Divorce parties? something else? I’m all ears!

Will we be legally married?

At the moment celebrant led ceremonies are not legally recognised in England or Wales. Humanist weddings have been legal in Scotland for many years and more recently in Northern Ireland. This is a work in progress and change IS coming, Humanists UK and many independent celebrant groups continue to liaise with the UK Government to bring about change and legally recognise celebrant led weddings.

But please don’t let this put you off! You can get the ‘paper work’ (as I like to call it) sorted at a register office for around £57, this can be done on the same day as your ceremony or anytime before or after! Much like you register a birth or death, most of my couples view this as the registering of their marriage or civil partnership, and their ceremony as the main event.
